Modalities:

The letter of credit can be issued for immediate or deferred payment; and be either confirmed, or not confirmed.

The letter of credit may or may not be a commitment by another bank to assume the obligations of the bank issuing the credit letter, particularly for paying it;

and may be divisible or indivisible: which allows for partial shipments, or otherwise.

LCI

LCIs are securities issued by Banco Luso Brasileiro that are registered with the CETIP (Securities Custody and Financial Liquidation Center), and that can be acquired at a pre-determined rate of interest, meaning that the investor knows how much they will receive on settlement date, or at an index-linked rate, which pay the investor a percentage of the Selic [government’s benchmark interest rate] rate or of the CDI CETIP.
